The LCDC has prepared the community elements of a six-year strategy to guide local, economic and community development in County Cavan, called the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). The economic elements of this plan were prepared by the Strategic Policy Committee for Economic Development. The plan’s vision is:

"That Cavan 2021 will be a place that we can be proud of – a place where people can have a good quality of life. A better place to live, to work, and to enjoy."
