Free off street Christmas parking in Cavan Town

Cavan County Council has made over 1,200 free off-street car parking spaces available to shoppers in Cavan Town this Christmas.

The move, which is intended to encourage the people of Cavan to shop local and help support local jobs this Christmas, has seen Cavan County Council work alongside local employers, landowners, to ensure as many spaces as possible are available, giving motorists convenient access to the town’s businesses.

In addition to existing public car parks such as the Main Street car park, north and south (beside Tesco and Odeon Cinema), Bridge Street car park, and the Egg Market, Connolly St car park, which will be available for free each day, the Lynton House, Farnham Street car park will be free to all, while Cavan County Council’s staff car park at Courthouse Cavan will be available free at weekends, and during the week from 21st December.

With the kind permission of the Diocese of Kilmore, the Cavan Cathedral car park with also be available for free parking over the festive period, while the HSE has provided free access to its Thomas Ashe Street car park from Monday 21st until Sunday 29th December from 8am – 6pm.

The Kilmore, Elphin & Ardagh Church of Ireland Diocese has also kindly agreed to provide pedestrian access from Farnham Street to Church Street via Urney Church between 8am and 6pm to allow convenient access to the town centre from car parks on Farnham Street.
