Emergency Road Closure - Swellan, Glenside Cavan

Temporary Closing of Roads pursuant to Section 75 of Roads Act 1993 and Article 12 of Road Regulations 1994 

Notice is hereby given that Cavan County Council has made an order to close to public traffic the roads described hereunder from Monday, 29 July starting at 8am until Friday, 2 August 2024 at 6pm for the purposes of resurfacing works.  

Roads closed: 

• L-2541-0 Drumavanagh to Swellan Road, Cavan from its junction with the R-198-0 (Farnham Road) in the townland of Drumavanagh to its junction with the L-2539-0 (Glenside Road) in the townland of Swellan Upper. 
• L-6626-0 St. Patrick’s Terrace, Cavan from its junction with the L-2541-0 (Swellan Court) in the townland of Swellan Upper to its junction with the L-2539-0 (Glenside Road) in the townland of Swellan Upper. 
• L-2539-0 Glenside Road, Cavan from its junction with the L-6626-0 (St. Patrick’s Terrace) in the townland of Swellan Upper to its junction with the L-15192-0 (Cluain Aoibhinn) in the townland of Swellan Lower.   

Alternative Route: 

• Westbound – From Junction R-198-0 / L-2541-0 travel northwest via R-198-0, R-198-1 & R-198-2 along Farnham Road and Drumbar Road to Junction R-198-2 / L-1519-0, then southeastwards via L-1519-0 along Swellan Road to Junction L-1519-0 / L-15192-0. End of detour. 
• Eastbound – The same alternative route in reverse will apply to eastbound traffic.  

Diversions will be signposted for the duration of the works. 

During some of the work phases the diversions will not apply to local traffic in respect of areas outside of the immediate area of the works. 

Local traffic in the immediate area of the works will be accommodated as far as practicable.
