Cavan Library hosts Connect Café
Mental Health Ireland, in partnership with Cavan County Council, Cavan County Library Service, HSE Connecting for Life Cavan Monaghan and a range of local supports agencies, hosted a drop in information morning on Thursday 16th May in Johnston Central Library, Cavan.
The event was organised to coincide with Mental Health Ireland’s National Hello, How are You? campaign which highlights the importance of staying connected and encourages early help-seeking through the provision of reliable information on mental health support services and signposting.
A range of local health and wellbeing services were in attendance on the morning with staff on hand to highlight the services offered and to support anyone needing help with accessing relevant supports. Cllr Philip Brady, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council officially opened the event and said that “It’s heartening to see the range of services in the room who are all available to support the wellbeing of people living in our county. I applaud all involved, including our own library service for their stellar efforts to raise awareness of mental health supports.”
Emma Clancy, Cavan County Librarian said, “Our library service is at the heart of our communities and offers a wealth of information on mental and physical health through the Healthy Ireland at your Library initiative so it’s a pleasure to be able to host this important event, highlighting the many mental health supports available in this region”.
The morning provided a great opportunity for people from local services to connect with each other and become more familiar with the range of local supports as well as ensuring that members of the public could get to know local service providers, have a chat and learn more about local services.
