Drumlinia Brings Industry Leading Lights to Cavan
Singer Songwriter Don Mescall, together with Cavan Institute and Cavan Arts Office, is hosting the inaugural Drumlinia, Cavan’s Music Industry Week from 12-14 October 2023 in Cavan Town.
This initiative, conceived by Don Mescall, aims to inform, encourage and enable connections for emerging musicians and those with more established careers in the music and media.
The event kicks off with an ‘Industry Day’ on Thursday, 12 October at Cavan Institute, Cathedral Road.
Louise O’Reilly will MC the event which will see special guest speakers chat about a topic associated within their expertise. Panellists include Dave Fanning, 2FM; Willie Kavanagh, Irish Recorded Music Association; Lottie Ryan, 2FM; Barbara Galavan, McGuinness Whelan Music; Chris Kelly, SONY Music Ireland; John Masterson, Journalist and PR Expert; Mick D’Arcy, IMRO; Alejandro Jara Weitzmann, Smart Republic and Mary Callery, Shinawil and formerly of RTÉ.
Day two, Friday, 13th October, will feature Music Industry Workshops in Cavan Institute, Cathedral Road and Conaty Centre, Cullies facilitated by renowned musicians who have paved a successful career in the music industry. Workshops include Vincent Macklin - Live Sound Set Up; Don Mescall – Songwriting Workshop; James Shannon – Guitar Chet Atkins Style; Michele Busdraghi – Film Score; Emanuele Contis – Saxophone; Emma King – Percussion; Paul Sherry – Guitar Solo; Daniele Russo – Drumming Workshop; Bazil Meade – Vocal Choir Workshop; Celine Byrne – Masterclass in Vocal Technique (limited places available).
Day two concludes with a Classical at the Cathedral with Celine Byrne on Friday, 13th October 2023 at 8pm, in the Cathedral of St Patrick and St Felim, Cavan, which will see acclaimed Irish Soprano Celine Byrne and her string section will perform a select repertoire in a special fundraising concert for the building restoration. The show will be hosted by TV presenter/author Mary Kennedy, with special guests Cavan Cathedral Choir directed by Eileen Tackney and Cobhla Surlis. The final day of Drumlinia, Saturday, 14 October, features ‘The Listening Rooms’, a music trail in Cavan town where a selection of venues will host one singer / songwriter for a 20-minute slot. There will be a live recording on the day & a CD will be compiled of one song from each artist. One lucky artist will also be given the opportunity to record a song at Quivvy Church Studio under the guidance of Don Mescall
