Digital Suite Hosts Successful Robotics Workshop
A VEX IQ Robotics workshop took place at the Cavan Townhall Digital Suite from 26 to 28 of July 2023.
The workshop was delivered to the Cavan Town Youth Project, a local initiative that aims to provide opportunities for young people to develop their skills and interests in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The workshop was facilitated by David Hodge, a lecturer in mechanical engineering at Munster Technological University (MTU), and Daniel Peeters, Digital Innovation Officer at Cavan County Council. The workshop introduced the participants to the basics of robotics, such as design, programming, sensors and motors, using the VEX IQ platform.
The participants worked in teams to build and test their own robots and competed in various challenges and games. The workshop was a success, as it engaged the participants in a fun and interactive way, while also exposing them to the potential of STEM careers and education. The workshop received positive feedback from both the participants and their parents, who appreciated the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people. The workshop also strengthened the collaboration between the Cavan Town Youth Project, MTU, and Cavan County Council, and opened up possibilities for future events and activities
