Cavan Monaghan Science Festival – bee there!

Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Council are once again joining forces during Science Week from 11th-19th November 2023 to host a wide range of exciting and educational events for the 8th Cavan Monaghan Science Festival.

The objectives of the festival are to increase the awareness and visibility of science in our society, promote the importance of science for economic growth, to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) at a local and regional level and to demonstrate that STEAM is fun, educational and social.

Some of the inspiring events planned for adults, children, family and all members of the public include climate action workshops, water quality presentations, Inland Fisheries Ireland demonstrations, Geopark fossil practicals, kite building, science workshops and demonstrations, career events in STEAM and lots, lots more besides!

School children will be treated to trips to the Bee Barn, CSI Water workshops, interactive marine science information sessions, fun-believable science demonstrations, chess workshops, colourful chemistry workshops and sensory nature workshops, and more!

The festival kicks off in Ballyjamesduff on Saturday 11th November at 11am in St Joseph’s Hall with the Cavan Family Fun Day where there will be reptiles and spiders, marine science workshops, climate action art, interactive fishing, first aid workshops, demonstrations from our local fire services and much more so something for all the family to get involved with.  Parking will be available along the street in Ballyjamesduff, and at Castlerahan GAA Grounds.

Throughout the week there will be events across both Cavan and Monaghan targeting adults, children, teenagers, etc. and these will be publicised in the programme of events in the coming weeks.  Some events may require booking and details will be provided on the programme of events regarding this.

There will be lots of events planned so keep an eye on the Cavan Monaghan Science Festival Facebook page, or Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Council’s respective websites and social media channels for more information.
