Cavan Monaghan Science Festival returns 5th – 20th November 2022
Cavan Monaghan Science Festival returns from 5th-20th November 2022. This is the seventh edition of the award-winning festival, jointly delivered by Cavan County Council and Monaghan County Council.
The objectives of the festival are to increase the awareness and visibility of science in our society, promote the importance of science for economic growth, to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths) at a local and regional level, while also demonstrating that STEAM is fun, educational, and social!
Family Fun Day
To launch the festival in 2022, Saint Mogue’s Secondary School in Bawnboy is hosting the Cavan Family Fun Day from 11am – 2pm on 5th November, a fantastic day out with something guaranteed for all the family to enjoy.
The Fun Day will feature live events from the Dogs’ Trust, a Mad Professor, a marine biologist, blood donors, the Men’s Shed, Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark, the Environmental Protection Agency, Inland Fisheries Ireland, Cavan County Council’s own Environment Section as well as Cavan County Fire Service and Civil Defence, and Lego workshops.
Other events planned for schools, adults, children, and all members of the public throughout the week include Climate action workshops, CSI Water presentations, events hosted by Teagasc at their campus in Ballyhaise, science workshops and demonstrations, and lots, lots more!
Evening talks will also be delivered including Astronomy with Armagh Planetarium, professional cooking tutorial, bee keeping, water quality, woodlands, carbon calculator, air quality monitoring, invasive aquatic alien species, knee injuries, recovery and technology…the list just keeps going!
