Group Water Schemes
A Group Water Scheme (GWS) is entitled to a subsidy towards the cost of providing water and may obtain a water supply from either a local authority water main or from a private source such as a lake, well, bore hole, etc.
Subsidies
The subsidy is divided into two parts that are structured to take account of the differing operational arrangements and costs arising in each case.
Annual Subsidy
Applications for payment of the Annual Subsidy should be submitted by group water schemes no later than 30 June of the year following the year to which the subsidy claim relates.
Advance Subsidy
To assist the financial management of group water schemes, an Advance Subsidy A
Payment may be claimed each year.
Advances on Subsidy B may be paid on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December.
Water quality
Our staff from the Water Laboratory regularly samples all water supplies in County Cavan, which is determined by drinking water quality regulations.
You can download three reports relating to an incident with chemical contamination in a number of group water schemes in 2007.
