Ireland is the first, and only, country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18. Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people on Saturday 15 June 2024. This year’s Cruinniú na nÓg Cavan will spread its (fairy) wings for a special cross-border event in Cavan Burren Park as well as a host of other locations throughout Co Cavan. Check out the full programme and start booking!
In preparation for Cruinniú na nÓg children can take part this month in workshops across the county creating paper flowers representing the national flowers of everyone in our community. The gardens will be on display in the library from 15 June onwards!
Friends of Castle Lake Catchment is proud to announce that one of their members Donna Mullen has written a book “ How to Make Your Home a Nature Reserve”, published by O'Brien Press. The book will be launched at Bailieborough Library on Saturday 11th May at 3pm

Cavan Library Service enjoys bringing events and experiences to older people throughout the year but Bealtaine Festival brings a special focus to our programming for older people. Check out the range of creative events planned in libraries across the county!
#PoetryDayIRL is a special day celebrating poetry for everyone. To mark the occasion Virginia Library asked local primary school children to write us a poem on the theme 'Good Sports' and they certainly came up trumps! Six poems really stood out though by pupils form Crossreagh N.S. and Knocktemple N.S. Check out their wonderful words and see all the poetry on display in Virginia Library! Happy Poetry Day Ireland and thank you to all the children and teachers who took part!
Creative Cavan are excited to launch a FREE workshop for parents of children with additional needs (aged 5-7 years) to maximise use of our NEW sensory toy library and provide opportunities for creative play. Led by Deirdre O’Reilly, a Child and Adult Psychotherapist specialising in Play Therapy there will be 2 session - one for parents only and another for parents and children. Booking essential!
