Phase 1 (Complete)

Phase 1

In 2023, Cavan County Council initiated a new project phase in line with TII’s Project Management Guidelines. In 2024, Sweco Ireland Ltd. was appointed as Technical Advisor to develop and assess scheme options.

The project has completed Phase 1 – Concept and Feasibility, and is now entering Phase 2 – Options Selection, which includes:

  • Identifying constraints within the study area (current stage)
  • Developing potential route options
  • Assessing the feasibility of each option
  • Recommending a preferred option
  • Preparing an Option Selection Report

Phase 1 Study Area

The Study Area for the N55 Ballinagh Traffic Relief Scheme extends approximately 5km, from 2.5km south of the N55/R154 junction in the townland of Garrymore to 2.5km north of the same junction in the townland of Shannow.
