Town & Village Renewal Scheme

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Dara Calleary TD, has launched the 2025 Town and Village Renewal Scheme. Funded under Project Ireland 2040, the Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS) is a key measure directly supporting the objectives of Our Rural Future and the Town Centre First (TCF) Policy. The Scheme, which was introduced in 2016, is part of a suite of measures designed to support the revitalisation of rural Ireland and to build greater resilience in our town centres through regeneration projects.

Funding will be made available for proposals which can be submitted under two distinct headings:

  1. Main Scheme
  2. Project Development Measure

Main Scheme:

  • Focus on town centre regeneration and enhancing social vibrancy in line with Town Centre First Policy
  • Types of projects sought:
    • Town centre regeneration drivers.
    • Plaza development.
    • Green spaces/ recreational amenities in town centres.
    • Enhance streetscapes.
    • Support markets.
    • Support infrastructure for markets.
    • Upgrade/refurbish community centres.
    • Bring vacant and derelict buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose spaces.
    • Support and enhance the night-time economy.
    • Enhancement of heritage assets located in towns and villages, including energy efficiency measures
  • Grant Level

    Grant funding for Main Scheme projects will range from €50,000 to €500,000.

Project Development Measure:

  • Funding provided to get a project shovel ready for a future funding call.
  • Includes development costs, e.g. detailed design, preparation for the planning and/or procurement, appropriate assessments etc.
  • Grant Level - The maximum funding under the Project Development Measure is €50,000 per project
